Ok, so I need anyones help, advice, tips, references anything that I can get on this! I'm VERY new into this field and would appreciate anything anyone can tell ***
Here's the project...
Over the last two years I've tuned and professionally raced a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. The car has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, twin turbocharged (only one ever) and retuned. It rides on a Mercedes Benz SLK 230 platform using the same motor, only rebuilt, bored out etc etc etc to keep it short.
With over a hundred thousand dollars poured into this car, I've fallen in love with it and pulled such great numbers out of it I would like to take it to the next level but am unsure of how or in what way.
(Stripping it of everything Chrysler i.e. the body is the first and best step.)
So, the initial plan was a new custom, one of a kind body of complete fiberglass along with the interior - to include creating a target top and deletion of the rear hatch window to create a porsche style recessed window, along with many other changes, etc. Essentially a kit car, I'm trying to change this into an entirely different car as I've already given it a whole new identity mechanically.
But, here are the problems... -Would like to lengthen the wheelbase as it's very short, I would like more of a longer exotic-car type looking body, but I know nothing about doing this myself nor if I was to have a company to it who to go through, but either way would like the process explained to ***
-Also, should I just scrap the frame and start with just the pure platform? Or keep the frame and build off of and around it? How much money and work am I looking at by constructing a new frame?
-If I keep the frame, I would like to change the angle of the windshield at least and the shape of it, how easily is this done?
-Also, most importantly what are the best companies / processes to look for in design and construction of the body? I have a few companies in mind but would like your opinion.
-Also, who do I go to for custom headlight and taillight design?
I'm sure many other questions will come to mind as I go along, please help. Thanks again...
