Well- guess it was just a matter of time before we finally get our fill of ferrari 308's built on the Fiero platform.-they are all over the place.. we need to see something MORE. Maybe a Kelmark Ferrari built on a Fiero Platform<FP>. Or how about an Avenger on an FP. I would love to see a BECK Porsche 906 on an FP. The ASPP Ford GT does not really look that good on an FP. BUT I think that the Fiero Platform lends more support and stability to the construction of RepliCars than their VW brothers. Plus the VW platform does not lend itself easily to an 8 cyl conversion without much re-working. Sooooooooooooooo ViVa the Fiero Platform.

Oh Yeah- Corson came out with a 512 BB- Berlinetta Boxer copy built on a Fiero Platform. But that model ferrari is not too familiar to many. Would love to hear some thoughts on what other Heavenly Bodies to put on the FP.

It would be easier to just make a frame for other suspension components to bolt to, problem is, front suspension parts from non front wheel drive cars are not readily available. A tidbit of information, did you know that the Fiero mid engine setup was simply nothing more than leftover power units from the Chevrolet Citation? The first ones at least were VERY crude, they had just cut the tierods and welded them direct to the A Frame to keep the wheels from steering! The Fiero was actually a sort of a gamble, that paid off. We in the Kitcar stuff can do the exact same thing with ANY front wheel drive of our choice, to get first class rear/mid engine-rear drive. As I said, front suspension for the kitcar becomes a bigger problem, but far from insurmountable. Most front suspension that is worthwhile and suited for the weight comes from very expensive cars. The market is very small and fickle afterall.

This topic has been buzzing around my head for a few days. I think the real way we may be going is to take a small rear wheel drive pickup chassis, and by grafting on a few brackets on the rear portion, bolt in ANY front wheel power unit, presto we have a mid engine chassis for the next generation of kitcars! I wonder if anyone has even done that yet. Would be super easy to do, and if wanted easy to also make it a four wheel steering chassis.

hmmm interesting, so basically just take a front wheel drive motor and slap it on the back of a pickup frame, and voila! a mid engine chassis.
I wonder just how plausibe this would be? I like it though, way to think outside the box!

Most of the newer front wheel drive cars, allow you to remove the whole enchilada with only four prominent mounting bolts, like the old K members (maybe they still call it a K member). Very quick and easy to get one, and even more easy to weld on some small pieces to bolt the power unit to. I would suspect that some softer coil springs may be in order, but that is a simple task.
