I am glad I found this forum. I have a Heritage 1934 Mercedes 500K special roadster replica. I am looking for a source for the front headlight assembly. Has anybody found a good supplier for vintage head lamps?
Thank you in advance

PLEASE--I need some help. I have a Merlene but nothing to refer back to when I need new parts. My brother built the car but passed away before I could obtain all the paperwork. His wife will not let me have access to any of his personal belongings. I need new calipers but have no idea what to purchase. Please help. I would be glad to pay anyone to fax or send me what I need in case I need new parts. Please E-Mail me jdgbwg@aol.com

OK, I joined up for one reason, I just bought a kitcar! I was hoping that there would be more info about the redheaded stepchild of Mercedes replicars....You guessed it,The Gazelle. the kit I have is not technically a gazelle. It is an early FiberFab and is called an SSK replicar. We all know it is not a replica of anything so lets not go there! It is however, a kitcar and its called a 1929 Mercedes so this must be the place to chat about it. And if it wasn't bad enough my kit is a VW based kit. There I said it, now is there anyone out there that has anything to teach me about a VW based 1929 Mercedes SSK kit? I am eager to learn and I vow that i will not be one of those guys to let the kit sit and collect dust.
I have purchased a new beam front end spindle to spindle to replace the rusting one on my donor car. The engine runs good and I and ready to replace some floor damage where the previous owner cut some holes in the floor pans when removing the seat rails. I have mounted four used tires on the FF rims so the body will clear during setup. I am considering a switch to a hydraulic clutch system to replace the old cable setup, any thoughts? I have found stainless Trumpet horns made for boats that will nicely replace the tacky plastic ones the kits came with. My kit had none at all. I am looking to paint it a dark green like the old English roadsters, I cant bear the idea of owning another creme and brown SSK like 90% of all of them made! I have also learned of a possible cooling issue witch can be remedied by fabricating a panel to separate the top of the engine from the bottom as found in the original donor car. Has anyone done this?
I would love to own a Marlene or other nicer kit but I cant afford one, what I have is going to have to satisfy me. There are thousands of these Gazelles out there, Jay Leno even owns one! There must be some of you that have one and are willing to share some stories and tips!

I doubt anyone would belittle your project, drive and enjoy the heck out of it! It took me a few years to be able to have a Marlene, but the other kitcars I owned along the way were fun as well. Enjoy!!
