Don,
How is the Marlene coming? I have one on the way from CA also. Just wonder how your experience is going?

Thanks for the interest.  Slowly is the correct description for my progress, It had lots of missing pieces, and finally the original owners widow in cleaning up the garage, found Most of the missing parts.  I bought a new house that needed our personal touches, so the last year has been busy - but not on the Marlene.  The new house has an air conditioned garage to work in, so just last week, I put it back in the active project stage.  I bought a Ford Explorer and used the 4.0 fuel injected V6 engine with automatic OD lockup torque converter transmission, it is installed, except for the fuel, wiring, and exhaust.  I currently have assembled all the right parts, just got to bolt them all together.  I was going to insert a photo, but have forgotten how to do it I guess.

Don,
Glad to hear you're making progress. I would like to see a shot of it. Good choice in the new drivetrain. In the assembly manual does it specify if the parts will interchange with other vehicles?

Sure, it is mostly all Mustang II and Pinto stuff.  Used to be cheap and quite available, but I have found it is pretty darned hard to find these days.  I just convert to something newer and more available when faced with that problem.  The engine is an example, the kit was made for a 2.8 Ford V6, a gutless worthless engine.  The 4.0 for instance is exactly the same block, bigger displacement, fuel injected, and bolts right in therefore.

Hi

I've got a Marlene assembled in 90. I got a used Pinto with a 6 cyl., but it turned out that it was the Pinto six. Anyway, it eats gas (12-14 mpg) and isn't all that powerful and so seeing your post on the 4.0 interested me. I have the original manuals for the assembly (I think), and for the 302 one had to do a modification so the fan would fit by shortening a shaft. Does the 4.0 just fit right in without any fan modification?

Thanks
Mark Carroll
