I've been hearing all this stuff from kids trying to get their hands on a Nissan Skyline GTR which they can legally drive in the US, but unfortunately nobody has been able to do it since its pretty much impossible to get imported and registered.  One guy over on Import Tuner suggested bringing over a shell and swapping in an RB26 out of a junked out Skyline and having it registered as a kit car, but would this even be possible to do?  

Yes it's possible, but you will need to purchase a skyline out of canada. New skylines cost over 30k.
If you want one I could get you one, it's really easy. You dont even need to go to the junk yard and purchase a beat up engine, you can use the same one that was in the one you have purchased.  

There was a company a couple of years back that went under that was doing this. You have to jump through some loopholes and the leagality isn't completely known.  

yeah from what ive herd you can get a skyline imported for like about its price but in order for it to b legalized you have to have a rev limiter installed but after you can get another chip that over rides the rev limiter  

I don't think you would just need a rev limiter, the reason the older skylines are illegal is because they can't pass emmisions and safety requirements, it's not because they are to fast.
