Same here exceptI just renewed for 3 years. I even called in and talked to the person and nothing at all was mentioned about the magazine going out of business so I sent my money order and it has been cashed. Any information would be appreciated.

I received a card in the post explaining me subscription is going to Hot Rod. I have been a subscriber sinc 1982....have all the magazines cataloged. I have attended numerous Knotts events...and still have assembly manuals for the McBurnie Dayton and the GTO kit by Alpha. Visited Shell Valley in 1987...have the ball cap which was given to me. I understand the perils of business...however you can see a steady decline of quality of material begining when the magazine was sold to a "much larger" publisher. Articles were being shared/published between mags, completed project vehicles were few...etc. My concern is...where do we go now for information to keep the hobby/craft/ideas alive. Tis is a great loss for the hobby/industry.

I also got a card in the post saying my subscription would be going to Hot Rod magazine. I really liked Kit Car. One of about 2-3 mags at most I liked. It seems the whole industry is kind of going downhill with the recent closures of big name builders (put out of business by Lambo). I hope the other magazine will pick up where Kit Car is leaving off and we can keep this hobby going and even build it up further. Its going to be missed greatly.

Yeah, I received a postcard yesterday that the March 2009 issue will be the last
published and the balance will be served by Hot Rod.  What? are they going to
send me 2 copies of Hot Rod now?  Of all the car mag's I get, Kit Car's always
been the best.  I'm REALLY disappointed - the others could slide... but not
Kit Car. I'm more horrified than anything. Kit Car is oriented more toward an older
audience - must be why the big company's dumping it - they need to remember
one thing - the majority of the "kids" don't have disposable income!

"Kit Car Builder" has been the better mag for a long time, so no great loss.  Kit Car seemed to forget us regular guys and just appealed to subscribers with deep pockets.  I'll only miss the Kitcarchives section and some of the show coverage.

Is it any wonder. I have been reading this magazine for years and the past year or so it has morphed into something that really should be called Cobra Monthly. Now before anyone starts any whining, Let me say I am not slamming Cobras, I love them and the whole history around them. In fact there are probably more Cobra replicas out there than any other style/brand but, if the intent on growing and moving the replicar industry and lifestyle forward then they need to balance the amount of articles they do with other replicas other than always Cobras and the occasional Porsche Spyder. Every year they publish a great buyers guide, they could have just gone through it and each month highlight one or two of the manufacturers and what they have to offer. Broaden the beam of the spotlight and the readership would expand as would the advertiser's knocking on the door and alot more folks would be aware of some of the more obscure and unique kits out there. I am not looking forward to the withdrawl pains !

Sorry I took so long to get to this. It's true Kit Car magazine is gone, and while I don't know how the subscriptions will be handled, I can say that the last two issue will eventually be up on the site. The site isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

As far as I know the Knott's event has no affiliation with the magazine, I'm not sure I know who Joel Heinke is. The site isn't going anywhere.
