Texas DMV says that all titling/registration of hand-built cars is done in the year of the motor. If you put in a 'new' crate engine, it will be registered as a 2009. However, I know of no crate engines that will pass today's emission test.
What's the answer?

find an old engine put it in for inspection then change it to watever your going to run perminately..It's a hassle i know but they want to play games I play them well also...

Texas is iin the process of changing the replica car registration criteria. They will be soon letting you register you kit to the year and make that it most closeley resembles. Read this in the last issue of Street Rodder mag.. Gary 1934 Ford 3 window coupe
