I built a 1927 Bugatti kit car back in the 70's with my dad. It was made by Classic Motor Carriages and put on a VW frame. This kit was unusual that it had a "bumble bee" back end and long sloping front fenders. I haven't been able to find any information or other pics of this particular style Bugatti. When we bought the kit from a local gentleman he said there were only a few made. Does anyone know anything about this kit? My Dad still drives it today and it's a blast.

I've never seen a Bugatti type 35 or type 37 with anything other then a 'Boat Tail' rear end - where the body tapers back almost to a point.  Can you discribe the 'bumble bee' end or better yet get a pix of it ?

I'll be posting a picture soon. The back is completely rounded. The guy we bought it from said it was a bumble bee rear end. They only made a few and Bugatti went after them for making that design so they stopped. He said there were only two sold in PA. The complete kit he made and the second one he bought that was just the fiberglass body. We bought the body and fabricated all the rest ourselves using pictures and drawings from his complete kit. Don't know how many were made total. It also has the long sloping front fenders which I was told were not original for Bugatti. Seems it's a real"mutt".

I recently bought a VW kit car that fits the description of yours. It has markings on the fiberglass that says Classic Motor Carriages, Hallandale, Fla. It looks like a cross between a Bugatti Type 37 and Type 39. It has long fenders and has what is called a "boat tail". I can send you photos if you want. It must be rare, I have never seen another kit car like it. I would welcome your photos or any other information. Thanks
