Hello everyone, names Johnny, I am from Western MA. I have always been into cars my whole life. I had joined a autobody/welding school and removed myself after the autobody and welding was completed, they had more courses after that had no interest with me so i stayed working at a custom autobody shop and got paid while i learned, so that worked out, saving me the extra 20k the school would of charged me if i stayed,  i then joined the army as a welder and metal worker and now im out , got back from iraq after a 15 month deployment and 6 mo later i was released due to medical problems  ( got out oct of 2008 ), but yeah, as for cars go,  i can draw well and ive always been drawing concept cars and wanting to create one since i was very very young, legos and sketches and sutch,  as for my project i want to start,  i just dont know specs, i can weld anything so that wouldnt be a issue.
i have the main look of the car drawn out as for how i want my kit car to look.
so now what steps do i need to do since i have the outside completed,

specs, width, size, height, its a rear engine ( mid engine i should say ) and its going to be street legal but also meant for the track. picture a lemans series road car as for width, length, weight ( around that ), ride height, regular height ( chassis ), etc.

I know alot of you have messed with kit cars and or creating your own, so i'd like some feed back. ill post up a pic of the concept i whipped up over the last few years of quick sketches here and there, nice meeting you all!!

Street legal!  I'm in CT, it is pretty hard to title and register a vehicle here, I think MA will give you similar problems.  You're at a good spot however (rather then buying a partially completed project). Keep all receipts and document EVERYTHING you buy, modify, or make.  The state inspectors can be very tough before assigning a VIN when applying for a title.

with mine it was looked by the highway patrol, they make sure everything worked,
had me start it up,went inside told them it was a self made vehicle, they ask the value of the car and for the slip from the trooper saying it passed.and you get sent a title in 30 days.it is very easy also you get a vin mumber plate, and vin
number sticker.its that easy.

K, thanks for the info guys and streetpro. In my design i do plan on making it legit for rules and regs as for inspection goes. Ill be buying my parts, components from Jegs or Summitracing. Ill be having the frame built and i will be doing the assembly of the components and modifications if need be and also ill be making the mold for the body, i know fiberglass from the army. so that helps tremendously but i dont know how to make major pieces, just patch damaged exisiting fiberglass. so ill have to research that. any ideas, tips, ill post up a picture of the sketches soon once i can get a chance to take some pictures of them and send them to my verizon picture place then i can add them on here.
