I've always been a Camaro fan and have had over a dozen Camaros. Frankly, they are a car that I am familiar with -- nothing more. I'm also in love with the concept of the Lotus Seven with its minimalist design. It an engine on four wheels and it just happens to have great performance. I'm not going to engage in competition. I just want a simple no frills andrenalin car that "maybe" has a heater installed. I have two 4th generation SS Camaros both of which are road worthy and I'd like to find plans for a chassis that will accept the running gear from these cars and permit a body layout similar to a Lotus Seven. I understand that the LS1 V8 is overkill for such a light car but I'm sure that I would have no problem detuning this power plant to behave appropriately. I might also be able to squeeze a bit more economy and longivity from an engine that is basically being put to sleep and hardly being tasked to push a car down the road. The rack and pinion steering, the 4-wheel ABS brakes, the 6 speed transmission all perform great with the heavy Camaro and would certainly be phenominal for a sports car. If I can find plans, I would be willing to attend the local vocational school to get a welding certification.
