19 years ago, I became acquainted with an exotic sports car created by James Kuzara, the man behind the company Exotic Dream Machines. Called the Zara, it was featured in the September 1991 issue of Kit Car Magazine. It was powered by a Chevrolet V-8 and had his own patented drive system built so he could use a General Motors TH-700 automatic or Richmond Gear 5-speed transmission in a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration where a Porsche G-50 or a similar transaxle would usually be mounted.
Later, a small article in the Down The Road column in the February 1992 issue of McMullen & Yee Publishing's old Kit Car Illustrated stated that the Zara project had been sold to the DeCuir Motors Company in Riverside, California. Word was that DMC was planning to revamp the project to use Ford engines and drivetrains, with plans to have them come under Ford warranty. After that, I heard nothing else.
Does anyone know what happened to Kuzara and his creation after that?
I found the Zara to be an interesting car, particularly for Mr. Kuzara's drive system, which I thought was a good solution for mid-engine exotics since parts could easily be obtained at local stores.

and003 welcome to the forum. You already know more than most on the Zara it sounds like to me, I've never even hear of 1. Have you tried a Google search or any club affiliations. Riverside is allmost all developed know sense they took out the track there & built a bunch of housing & strip malls. I would think there is someone there that would remember the brand if that is where they were accualy located. Good luck. 3836bbl/Budnicks
